    One of my favourite methods is Superbeam. Yes the mobile app.
    But it has a desktop version that not only allows you to easily transfer files between phones or tablets but desktop PC'S and laptops as well. But because of that you don't have to have a mobile at one end of the transfer. Two PC's work just as well. Even better those PC'S can be running Windows, Linux, or Mac OS. Unlike SAMBA or SSHD or other options, you don't need to make any big system configuration changes (eg install SAMBA, setup shares, user permissions etc) or compromise system security to simply transfer a file.
    This makes it great for occasional one time transfers with aquaintances, coworkers, classmates etc. People you don't want to setup with passwords or permissions on your system.
